Originally the Carbide and Carbon Building, it was Lucien Le Grange who was responsible for the restoration and conversion of the historic building to what isĀ now The Hard Rock Hotel Chicago. The Art Deco landmark was originally constructed in 1929 at the height of Prohibition, designed by the sons of legendary Chicago architect Daniel Burnham to resemble a champagne bottle. Along with the innovative design comes the prime location, as the hotel is just steps from the famous Magnificent Mile.
