9h Capsule Hotel

9h Capsule Hotel 01

The concept behind Japanese Capsule Hotels is that they cater to businessmen who don’t have the time to go home. The 9h Hotel or Nanaiwasu, however, is more of a luxury capsule hotel. Standing at 9 stories tall, it stores 125 capsules that make use of Panasonic’s environmental and lighting control system. Designed by Fumie Shibata of Design Studio S, 9h stands for Nine Hours. 1 hour to shower + 7 hours of sleep + 1 hour to rest. The first hotel is set to open in December of 2009, located in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto.
